Eyelid Surgery and the Most Qualified Candidates
Blepharoplasty can improve the way you look as well as your poise and assurance, but there is the possibility it will not necessarily alter your appearance to go with what you have set in your mind, or cause the general public to treat you differently. Prior to making a decision to undertake something as serious as a surgical procedure, be pragmatic and realistic about your outlook and discuss the options with your surgeon. The candidates who are considered greatest for eyelid surgery are both women and men who are in good physical condition, have a stable psychological countenance, and are reasonable in their expectations. Most candidates are over thirty-five years of age; however, if hanging, slack eyelids are hereditary in your family, you may come to a decision to include eyelid surgery as a decision to make at a younger age. As people go through the aging process, the skin around the eyelid elongates, muscles decline in strength, and fat builds up around the ocular areas causing soft pockets of adipose tissue (also known as ‘bags’) below and sometimes above the orbit. There are several noteworthy medical situations which make blepharoplasty a more risky undertaking. If the patient has previous diagnosed thyroid troubles such as diabetes, hypothyroidism and Graves' disease (hyperthyroidism), eyes that have chronic dryness or lack of adequate tear film, elevated blood pressure or other vascular disorders, cardiovascular or peripheral cardiovascular disease. Glaucoma and detached retina are also grounds for concern.
