Women decide to augment their breasts for a variety of reasons. A popular reason is to want larger, fuller breasts. These medical professionals perform breast augmentation using saline implants, breast enlargement and reshaping by liposuction injection, and in a small percentage of patients, silicone implantation. Procedures such as this are normally done under general anesthesia by a licensed and registered anesthesiologist to minimize anxiety, pain, and soreness during the procedure. Most patients have very little pain immediately following surgery due to long-acting localized anesthetic given as part of the procedure. Most patients also have the ability to return to work within seven days after surgery. There may be some soreness, tenderness, and bruising for a few weeks as well as swelling around the surgical site following surgery.
